Before you get started, we’d like to give you a brief introduction to how the course is structured and how to make the most of the learning materials.
This course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises to help you understand VHF radio communication and develop the skills needed to operate a VHF radio safely and correctly.
Learn at your own pace. There is no need to rush. You can work through the course at a pace that suits you, taking breaks and returning to your lessons whenever you wish.
Course modules and lessons. The course is divided into modules, each covering specific topics related to VHF radio communication. We recommend following the modules in the order presented, as the content builds on what you have already learned.
Module quizzes. At the end of each module, you will complete a multiple-choice quiz covering the topics you have just studied. These quizzes are designed to check your understanding and reinforce what you have learned before moving on to the next module.
VHF radio simulator. Throughout the course, you will have access to our interactive VHF radio simulator. The simulator allows you to practise operating a VHF radio and become familiar with its functions and communication procedures. We encourage you to use the simulator alongside your lessons whenever practical exercises are relevant.
The simulator manual. The user guide covers every control on the radio, the DSC menu, the scorecard and a troubleshooting list. It lives in one place and is kept up to date there: open the user guide. It opens in a new tab, so you can keep it beside an exercise.
Additional resources. The Appendix section also contains useful reference materials and supplementary information. We recommend taking some time to explore these resources, as they may be helpful both during the course and later when using a VHF radio.
Final assessment. Once you have completed all the modules, you will take a final multiple-choice assessment covering the entire course. This assessment allows you to test your overall knowledge and evaluate how well prepared you are for the official SRC theoretical examination..
The purpose of this course is to provide you with the knowledge you need to:
Take your time, make use of the available resources, and don’t hesitate to revisit previous lessons whenever you need a refresher.
We wish you an enjoyable and successful learning experience!
Let’s get started!
